About

Xan West is the nom de plume of Corey Alexander, an autistic queer fat white Jewish genderqueer writer and community activist with multiple disabilities who spends a lot of time on Twitter.

Xan’s erotica has been published widely, including in the Best S/M Erotica series, the Best Gay Erotica series, and the Best Lesbian Erotica series. Their work has been described by reviewers as “offering the erotica equivalent of happy ever after”, and “some of the best transgressive erotic fiction to come along in recent years”. You can find a full listing of their publications here, and a list of content warnings for their short stories here.

Xan’s story “Trying Submission” won the 2019 National Leather Association John Preston Short Fiction Award. Their story “First Time Since”, won honorable mention for the 2008 National Leather Association John Preston Short Fiction Award. Their recent collection of queer kink erotica, Show Yourself To Me, was published by Go Deeper Press in 2015, and has been described by M. Christian as “a book that changes what erotica can and should be.” It is currently out of print, and will be republished in 2020.

After over 15 years of writing and publishing queer kink erotica short stories, Xan has begun to also write longer form queer kink romance. Their recent work still centers kinky, trans and non-binary, fat, disabled, queer trauma survivors. It leans more towards centering Jewish characters, ace and aro spec characters, autistic characters, and polyamorous networks than prior work. Xan has three published romances:

  • Nine of Swords, Reversed, a D/s romance novelette centering Jewish fat queer disabled genderfluid mages, that has an autistic MC.
  • Their Troublesome Crush, a polyamorous kinky queer m/f romance novella about metamours realizing they have a mutual crush on each other as they plan their shared partner’s birthday celebration.
  • Eight Kinky Nights, an f/f Chanukah friends to lovers seasoned romance, where an experienced submissive femme offers her best friend, a newly single novice dominant stone butch, eight kink lessons as a Chanukah present, one for each night of the holiday, certain that they can keep it friendly and educational.

Xan has been working on a queer kinky polyamorous romance novel, Shocking Violet, for the last four years, and hopes to finish a draft very soon! You can find details and excerpts on this site, and sign up for their newsletter to get updates.

Xan’s next release is the short “Tenderness“, a prequel to Their Troublesome Crush, and part of the Kink & Showtunes series. .

Xan blogs about trans representation in literature, kink, queerness, disability, and writing on this site. Xan also occasionally blogs at other places on the web.

Corey spent many years doing community kink education and programming for kink educational groups and conferences. They are currently taking a break from doing kink education and focusing their energy on writing kink fiction, writing essays about kink on this site, and blogging about books and representation. Their essay “Why I Care About Depicting Survivors of Abusive BDSM Continuing to Do Kink” won the 2019 National Leather Association Cynthia Slater Non-Fiction Article Award.

Starting in 2018, at Corey’s Book Corner, Corey posts reviews, essays, and book recommendation lists, and hosts a list of reviews of trans and/or non-binary literature written by trans and/or non-binary reviewers. Reviews and essays and booklists originally hosted on this site will be migrating over to that one. Corey is deeply honored to be on the inaugural judging panel for the 2019 Ripped Bodice Awards for Excellence in Romantic Fiction.

Thanks for letting me know about the calls. I actually have them listed on my erotica calls page.

It’s so nice to have you personally ask for my work. I will definitely think about submitting to one of your open calls.

And thanks for your kind words about this site.

  4. I just wanted to thank you for all of your writing, both erotica and otherwise! and your posts! and links and thoughts!
I have been so appreciating them since discovering them recently!

For me the erotica you write feels so good on so many levels (not just sexual, but most definitely that too!) – I feel like I’ve never felt this affirmed in my sexuality and desire and attraction and feelings around gender and my identities (both ones that I have ended up with as well as ones that I choose politically) all at once and also how all these things are enmeshed with each other and also/therefore society at large (and how fucked up things can be!)…

I also really appreciate your thoughts and experiences that you have shared on this site.

So basically thank you so much for writing the words that you do!
(I think this is the first time I’ve been this moved to write something resembling “fan mail”.)

(I didn’t know where I should write this so I wrote it here.)
